After a two-month battle, Russian forces tightened their grip on East Ukraine by capturing the city of Severodonetsk.
Now Russia controls some 20 percent of Ukraine. The billions of dollars worth of weapons sent to Ukraine from the West have made a bad situation worse.
We have been completely opposed to Russia’s decision to wage war in Ukraine, but we have also been realistic. Agreeing with us, Pope Francis also declared that the war was not simply a fight between “good guys and bad guys.”
We also noted before the war began that Ukraine would not defeat the much larger and more sophisticated Russian military, and we suggested that since Ukraine would lose, as they are now, they should have negotiated for peace before the war began.
Yet politicians drunk with power kept ramping up the war. Zelensky was immediately hailed as the second coming of Winston Churchill and provided tailor-made comments for newspapers: “I don’t need a ride, I need ammo.”
It was a perfectly wrapped “David Vs. Goliath” story and the West’s rapacious media could not get enough.
But sometimes the bravest decision a politician can make is not asking for more ammo, but rather making concessions for the good of his country and people. Use force when wise, but negotiate and make concessions if defeat is certain. This calls for modesty, which is not common in politics.
The U.S. announced last week that it will send another $450 million in advanced rockets to Ukraine in a so-called effort to even the playing field. Since the war began, the United States shoveled in some $57 billion into Ukraine. More death and more destruction comes with a high price tag.
Peace Rally
There is silence among most religious leaders to stop the war and negotiate for peace. But not us: We will be holding a Freedom, Peace and Justice Festival on the Four Corners of Freedom in Kingston, N.Y. on Saturday, July 23.
Along with myself, featured speakers include Gary Null of Progressive Radio Network, a champion of natural healing; Judge Andrew Napolitano with judicial authority like no other on the areas of freedom, peace and justice; and Scott Ritter, a former U.S. Marine Intelligence Officer.
We are doing everything we can to get this peace movement major news every day all the time and we need your support. If we don’t unite for peace we will die in war.
Please do everything you can to donate to the Universal Church of Freedom, Peace and Justice.
Pace e Amore,Deacon Celente
